New Freestyles

Ive just dropped a freestyle called ‘Eternal Inferno’.

I was writing it for the Steemit Rap Challenge but it was too long so I decided to put it on this beat Ive had for ages. I wanted to talk about stuff nobody else is, and Im reading a book at the moment full of how the bible is steeped in ancient astrology and all. Depending on the response Ill probably write more stuff like this.

I also dropped Week 3 of the Termite MC Challenge today, which is a bit more lighthearted and fun. Its just sick rhymes because I feel like the Termite Challenge gives me the change to say whatever I want and be creative with it.

I really enjoyed creating that, and I hope you enjoy listening. There are more freestyles on the way, with the Steemit Rap Challenge coming by Friday so keep your eyes peeled!

New Rap Competitions!

As you may know, I’ve been entering the Steemit Rap Challenge hosted by Adsactly Records over the past couple of months. It hasn’t been on the past few weeks, but instead, a few other rap competitions have sprung up on Steemit. The prizes are similar, SBD in different amounts. This is the crypto-currency on the site, similar to bitcoin, and can be used on the site, letting you up-vote peoples posts and give them SBD, or can be withdrawn into a bitcoin wallet if you have one, and spent on the Dark Web or Purse dot io or any similar sites.

If your an MC, you can enter these competitions no problem, as long as you set up a free Steemit account. We could use more competitors on there, and if you want to help grow the Steemit Hip Hop community, you are certainly welcome!

The first new competition is the Termite MC Challenge, hosted by Termite Music. He provides a Termite produced beat every week, and you just record a video of yourself rapping on it, and post it in the comments. The video with the most up-votes wins! Its currently in its second week. Check it out at the link below:

Termite MC Challenge Week 2

If you want to get a feel of what kind of style MCs are using, Scroll down to the comments where you will see all the videos, and get a sense of the competition. Or check out my entry for this week here:

Hope you enjoyed that. The next competition is brand new this week, its called ‘Got16s?’ Its hosted by Voyce Atlas and judged by him too. It focuses more on metaphors and clever lines, or the ability to tell a story. Again, once you check it out scroll down and you’ll see the competition entries. Here’s the link below:

Got 16s? Challenge

Its been a busy week for me, releasing different freestyles and entering all these competitions! Heres my Got 16s? Challenge entry:

And if those competitions weren’t enough, the original Adsactly Records Rap Challenge is returning soon. If you want to know more about it, here’s the link:

Willy G’s Who’s Killing It?

Wow, 2 Who’s Killing Its in the one day? Hell yeah, I roll like that. Fuck a timetable! I do shit whenever I feel like it!

I had to post this one, Lil Dicky and Snoop Dogg team up for this funny assed shit here, I realise its 2 years old but I just found it there now and began to laugh, I found it really fresh too. Check it out:

Its a really cool concept, your man Dicky meets Snoop at his record label and has a conversation kind of like a sales pitch, trying to get on in the game. That part at the end had me in stitches!

Cheers for reading,

Willy G’s Who’s Killing It?

Whats up people? I havent done one of these in a while as you may have noticed. But I had to resurrect this series when I heard these guys. These 2 Korean MCs from America, collectively known as Year of the Ox, are killing it! I found their stuff on YouTube the other day when it auto-played after a few different videos. The fast flows in parts caught my attention, so I looked them up in the search and I have been listening to them ever since.

Heres their most popular video with over a million hits on You Tube, Seven Rings:

Its not just the cool flows that is dope, their lyrics are sick too. It took me a good few listens to catch everything they’re saying and get a sense of what they’re on about. Definite replay value. Its cool to see 2 Korean dudes ripping it up with Illmatic flows, its something different. Hope you enjoy it!

Once again, thanks for reading. I’ve been Willy G

New I Wonder Freestyle

I was trying to sit and write a verse for a new Steemit Rap Competition, but I couldnt rap some meaningless multi-syllable shit, I kept writing lines about the Las Vegas attack that happened yesterday.

This is dedicated to the victims, may they rest in peace. The point Im trying to make is that we all need to love one another and stop killing each other.

It may not change anything but Im just glad I got it off my chest.

Abusing your syllables?

Whats up people! Another day another Dollar. I saw this video the other day, while I was investigating rap styles and pointers and tips. This guy has some good videos, but I dont agree with him on a lot of stuff.

For example, in this video he is talking about over-using and abusing syllables in your verses. Too much syllables, can it be a bad thing? I personally dont think so. He gives an example in the middle of a scheme with too many syllables and I think it sounds ill as fuck!

What do you think? I would like to hear from you, drop a comment below and let me know. I would rather have mad syllables and be a bit abstract than have a nursery rhyme scheme. I actually refrain from using any simple one syllable rhymes on purpose, maybe on the rough first draft of a verse I might, but I always figure out a way to cram more syllables into the final product.

Im not knocking anyone that use simpler rhymes to get their point across, its just my style to be mad lyrical with it. Heres the video:

If your trying to be lyrical, using simple rhymes wont cut it. Then theres MCs who emphasise a different rhyme on the first syllable, like ‘I puff the weed-smoke, till Im on death-row playing bin-go’ and shit like that, I dont like that at all. It sounds whack to me. Youd need to be rhyming the syllables right like ‘I puff the weed-smoke, so I have been- broke, like an arm if you crash on the ski-slope’. You get me? Maybe its just personal preference. Let me know what you think.

If its a big long pile of syllables you might get away with emphasising a non-rhyming word with the same syllable count though. For example, ‘Im a lyrical killer fuckin a masochist stripper as im dreaming of dinner man ill never be slimmer’. But even then it doesnt sound as good to me as ‘ Im a lyrical killer, with an illiterate stripper, dreamin of eatin this chicken for dinner , i am kissin this slimmer, physique goodbye’. That way all the first syllables rhyme, yet you dont get your point across as well. But its more entertaining and takes more skill to craft these multi-syllables.

I could go on for days about this, but Id rather start a conversation with you about it. Let me know your opinion in the comments below, and once again, thanks for reading!
